Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does my dog need to be off leash as depicted in your images?

A: Absolutely not. Most dogs were on leashes in all my photos. Safety is my number one concern and I would rather Photoshop the leash out than take the chance that your dog will dart off for any reason. You can’t trust those pesky temptress squirrels!  I will also have a variety of leashes that I will also bring to help with the shoot and keep them safe.

Q: What if my dog is too hyper, nervous, shy, timid…

A: I have a lot of experience working with all types of animal behaviors.  I will do my best to use whatever “tricks” I have to make sure your dog is at ease and bring out their true personalities during the shoot.  I am confident that we can get some very nice photos of your pet. Please don’t worry or be embarrassed about how your pet behaves! They are dogs and that’s why we love them so much.  Besides, nobody wants a “robot dog”.  If I wanted that I’d be professional stuffed animal photographer. I welcome all personality types assuming they don’t present a danger to anyone, we will keep going.

Q: Do you photograph any other animals besides dogs?

A:Yes! I love all animals. I have photographed cats, horses, iguanas, pigs, chickens, goats, donkeys and rabbits. I would love to add more animals to this list.

Q: Can I be photographed with my pet?

A: Yes  of course! I would love to capture the loving bond between you and your pet! Don’t forget to wear some nice shoes.

Q: What if my pet is in poor/failing health?

A: I will do whatever I can to make sure your pet gets a session scheduled as soon as possible. They will be my top scheduling priority.

Q: What should you/your pet wear?

A: What not to wear is an easier question to answer: Please don’t wear:

  • Loud colors/patterns

  • Any type of logos on your clothing.

  • Ugly/dirty shoes. Your pets will be low to the ground next to your feet so your shoes will be shown. Sometimes people forget that.

  • Anything too trendy.

  • Please don’t put a seasonal bandanna/item on your pet. The goal is to have your artwork up year round. Sure if this is something you want we can do it, but let’s also get some photos without it.

Q: What does look good?

A: Neutrals. If you want to be photographed with somebody else make sure your clothing complements each other.

Q: What should you bring to the shoot?

A: Please bring your pets favorite treat/toy, anything special you want photographed with your pet. Ideally a neutral collar is best. If you dog needs a harness then bring it. The photos look better if the harness is removed but again pet safety is our top priority.  If they need it, then they should wear it.

Q:  What are the best times to take photos?

A: The light is typically best in the couple hours after sunrise and about a couple hours before sunset.

Q: I have a black/dark dog. Can you still get some decent photos?

A: Yes! I have two dark dogs myself. I will work with the light to make sure your dog shows at their best.

Q: What if it rains?

A: Cloudy days are actually quite nice with dramatic clouds look wonderful and create less contrast.  If it is raining or storming then we will reschedule for another time.

Q: Do you have payment plans?

A: Yes, I am happy to work with you on a payment plan. We can divide your payment into three payments spaced out over two weeks apart. Once the final payment is made, your print order will be placed.
